A Shy but Prickly Australian

This shy Australian was encountered in Ben Boyd National Park on November 8th, 2006. The echidna, also known as a spiny anteater, is a burrowing monotreme mammal covered with spines and having a long snout and claws for hunting ants and termites. Echidnas are native to Australia.

Watch the video very carefully and try to notice the long curled claws on the hind legs. Not many photos show those.

Maybe it's time you took a holiday to Australia. Holidays are great for your health!
